BUFFALO, NY/FORT ERIE, ON – Today the Peace Bridge Authority (PBA) once again celebrated Earth Day by undertaking an extensive litter and debris cleanup initiative along the Fort Erie Friendship Trail.


"Summer is around the corner, and the Peace Bridge Authority is pleased to help prepare the Friendship Trail for walking and bicycle use by Fort Erie residents and summer visitors," said PBA General Manager Ron Rienas.


As part of PBA Earth Day activities, Authority staff conducted trash and debris pickups, while student volunteers from local elementary and secondary schools tidied sections of the Friendship Trail (Gorham Road to Centralia Avenue and Helena Street to Bardol Avenue). Gloves and garbage bags were also be supplied by the PBA for the effort.

The following schools took part in the trail cleanup: Garrison Road Public School, Niagara Christian Community of Schools, Ridgeway-Crystal Beach High School, and Ridgeway Public School.


The Authority's Earth Day activities commenced with trail work on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at 9:00 a.m. (EST).
