(BUFFALO, NY/FORT ERIE, ON) – The Peace Bridge Authority (PBA) is the sponsor of a $5,000/year transportation/bridge engineering scholarship at the State University of New York at Buffalo (UB) in memory of former Chairman, Paul J. Koessler.

The Buffalo Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) coordinates the program on behalf of the PBA. This year there were a total of 16 applicants that were considered by the Selection Committee. This year’s winning recipient is John Roach of Kenmore, New York. In addition to his enrollment in the civil engineering program at UB, Mr. Roach volunteers in the community through Buffalo ReUse, Habitat for Humanity, and has served as the engineer mentor for the Buffalo Academy of Science Charter School.

(BUFFALO, NY/FORT ERIE, ON) – Anthony Annunziata has been elected Chairman of Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority.

Mr. Annunziata is Vice President of Marketing for Hilton Niagara Falls, Fallsview Hotel, in Ontario. He is also President of Vann Media Group. Prior to his current responsibilities he was executive director of marketing of the Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort for four years and worked for Casino Niagara for a total of eight years as director of marketing. He also served as vice-chair of the board of Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership for five years.

(BUFFALO, NY/FORT ERIE, ON) – The Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority would like to advise the public that they have until July 15th to submit their entries for the photography contest. The contest began on May 13 in conjunction with the new LED light system that was installed on the Peace Bridge.

Photographs must capture the new LED illumination of the Peace Bridge from any publicly accessible location and must be in color and submitted in an acceptable electronic format. The complete official rules are available on the Authority’s website – www.peacebridge.com.

(BUFFALO, NY/FORT ERIE, ON) – Just four months from now U.S. and Canadian citizens will no longer be able to cross the Niagara River to enter the United States by simply showing a regular driver’s license and one other piece of government issued ID.

Beginning June 1, 2009, in accordance with the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) only the following documents will be permissible:
