Serving Over 4.75 million Cars in 2012
Once again the Peace Bridge led all Canada-United States border crossings in overall automobile traffic with over 4.75 million cars visiting the corridor in 2012. The Peace Bridge is vital to the bi-national relationship and help fosters one of the world's most integrated multi-national economies. In addition, the Peace Bridge helps facilitate strong regional economic integration between Western New York and Southern Ontario in a myriad of ways, including:
- 38% of all Buffalo Niagara International Airport customers are Canadian
- 25% of all Walden Galleria Mall customers are Canadian
- 20% (on average) of all Buffalo Sabres ticket holders are Canadian
- 20% (on average) of all Buffalo Bills ticket holders are Canadian
- Canadians make roughly $10 million in yearly Buffalo area hospital visits
- Over 1,775 Canadian shoreline cottages are owned by Americans
- Over 3,000 Canadian students attend Buffalo area colleges
- Canada sends roughly 70% of its total exports to the United States via commercial carriers and international bridge corridors such as the Peace Bridge. The Peace Bridge is the third busiest Canada-United States truck crossing, servicing over 1.26 million commercial vehicles in 2012
