BUFFALO, NY/FORT ERIE, ON – Today the Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority (Peace Bridge Authority) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Buffalo Section announced that Mr. Timothy Kaiser is the recipient of the 2011 Paul J. Koessler Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship award is provided annually to a State University of New York at Buffalo (UB) student who demonstrates outstanding academic achievement, active participation in student organizations and activities, and pursuit of an education in Civil Engineering.

Koessler Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship award is provided annually to a State University of New York at Buffalo (UB) student who demonstrates outstanding academic achievement, active participation in student organizations and activities, and pursuit of an education in Civil Engineering.
Named in honor of former Peace Bridge Authority Chairman Paul J. Koessler, the scholarship recognizes Mr. Koessler’s many civic contributions and vast community involvement, as well as his dedication to the Peace Bridge as both a premier international border crossing and sign of prosperity between the world’s two greatest democracies.
Mr. Kaiser is currently enrolled in the Department of Civil, Structural, and Environmental Engineering at UB, where he is completing a Masters degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural Engineering.
The Paul J. Koessler Memorial Scholarship program is restricted to junior, senior or graduate-level students attending UB. For more information on the application process, requirements, and current filing deadlines, visit the community programs tab at www.peacebridge.com.
The Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority, a binational authority, has owned and operated the Peace Bridge since 1933. The bridge, which was opened to traffic in 1927, spans the Niagara River between Fort Erie, Ontario, and Buffalo, New York, and is a key international border crossing. The Authority is governed by a 10 member board with an equal number of representatives from Canada and the United States. As an international compact and in accordance with its enabling legislation, the chairmanship alternates annually between Canada and the United States.
