Press Releases & Advisories

October 29, 2014

BUFFALO, NY/FORT ERIE, ON – New York  State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) has awarded the contract to  proceed with the Gateways Connections project that will reconfigure  highway connections to the Peace Bridge’s U.S. plaza.Construction will commence at 7:00am on Monday, November 3, 2014.

There are no changes or lane restrictions on the ramp leaving the U.S. plaza to get onto the I-190 southbound. Approximately, 90% of the traffic entering the U.S. from Canada uses this ramp.

The sharp hook ramp to the right, immediately after the plaza, providing access to local Niagara Street will be closed indefinitely. However, this is a very low volume ramp and traffic will be detoured to Baird Drive.

The ramp coming off the I-190 northbound, (Canada bound) onto the Peace Bridge ramp will experience some lane restrictions. However, access onto the Peace Bridge ramp will be maintained throughout construction.
