2018 Border Traffic Statistics Issued by the Bridge and Tunnel Operators Association (BTOA)
BUFFALO, NY/FORT ERIE, ON – Today the Bridge and Tunnel Operators Association (BTOA) released border crossing numbers for the year 2018 between the Province of Ontario and the States of Michigan and New York.
In 2018, compared to 2017, overall car crossings increased by 0.87%. Truck crossings declined by 0.11%. Combined there were 34,075,600 car, truck, and bus crossings, an increase of 0.63% or 214,473 vehicles.
The data for each individual crossing is as follows:
*Due to construction, the Detroit-Windsor tunnel was generally closed Sunday – Thursday evenings 8:00pm – 5:30am.
** Due to construction, one lane of the three lane Peace Bridge was completely closed from January 1 - May 15 and from October 15 – December 31. Oversize and overweight trucks were prohibited from October 15 - December 31.
Overall cross border traffic in 2018comprised 34,075,600 vehicles, 34.9% lower than in 2000 when 52,367,401 vehicles traversed the border. Click on here for individual crossing data..
