Peace Bridge Lighting in honour of Queen Elizabeth, II
BUFFALO, NY/FORT ERIE, ON – The Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority will be lighting the Peace Bridge Royal Blue on September 18 and September 19, 2022, in honour of Queen Elizabeth, II.
The Peace Bridge will be joining other Canadian landmarks in paying tribute to the late Queen. Royal blue was chosen to be the tribute colour due to the blue found in the viceregal flags of Canada and because it mimics the colour of jewels worn by the Queen in her last official Canadian portrait.
About the Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority
The Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority, a binational bridge authority, has owned and operated the Peace Bridge since 1933. The bridge, which was opened to traffic in 1927, spans the Niagara River between Fort Erie, Ontario, and Buffalo, New York, and is a key international border crossing.
