Canadian Plaza Now Featuring Digital Image Displays
The Peace Bridge has added two modern billboard units to the Canadian plaza in order to provide advertising opportunities, border crossing updates, emergency alerts, public service announcements, and special event notifications. Installed by Pattison Outdoor Advertising LP (Pattison Outdoor) of Oakville, Ontario, the light-emitting diode (LED) digital advertising displays are located within the existing Customs plaza, adjacent to the westbound bridge lane. Revenue from these advertising structures helps support ongoing Peace Bridge operations and capital improvements, while also providing an innovative medium for communication with the traveling public.
Pattison Outdoor was selected for the digital display work following a competitive request for proposal process (RFP) initiated by the Authority. The LED displays installed by the firm operate on a 24/7 schedule and regularly carousel through nine separate static digital images, exhibiting each for a period of six seconds. The Authority has retained access to one of every nine images for special announcements and trusted traveler program promotion.
The displays were constructed to meet specific fabrication requirements for both aesthetics and building materials, in order to ensure continuity with the existing plaza and bridge structures. The LED displays measure 10ft. in height by 20ft. in width and were installed in January 2010.
